We all know it – the Norwegian autumn, with its ever-changing weather shifting between drizzle, gusty winds, and sudden temperature drops. We’ve dubbed this unpredictable fall weather Kastel weather. It’s during this period that it becomes crucial to have footwear that can keep up with us, no matter where the day takes us. And this is where the Lyngen Slip-Fit boots from Kastel come to the rescue.

The sports industry has driven the innovation of shoe technology for performance reasons, but this has greatly influenced our expectations in terms of comfort and practicality for everyday footwear. Fortunately for us, this means we can take many of these innovations and create shoes that perform as well as any sports shoe, but with a cleaner and more elegant design for everyday use.

New and improved fitting!

Sola was our best seller in fall 2023, and for 2024 we've made improvements based on customer feedback. The elastic cuff is now more stretchy and single-layered, and the heel counter is one piece for easier foot entry. These changes have resulted in a better true-to-size fit.

Madla - the shoe that made Kastel

Madla was our first big hit. Before Madla, the only options you had in rainy weather was wet sneaker or chunky boots. We made one of the first waterproof sneaker-boot hybrid.

Looking back in order to look forward

The sports industry has pioneered the innovation in footwear for many decades now, and they have seemed to favor synthetic materials on their quest to conquer the elements. We too have been allured by the promises of breathable membranes and water repelling chemicals. However, once we started to dig into the history of how our ancestors thrived in these very same cold climates as us, using only the natural resources they had available, we thought we needed to investigate further. One material that stood out as a greatly underestimated solution was wool.

You spoke, we listened!

As a brand that specializes in Nordic weather conditions, we can understand that some of you felt that our soles were not delivering according to our promise. And that made us sad to hear. That is why we for this season decided to partner up with Vibram for our entire FW24 collection.
